Orlando, Florida (November 22, 2019) – The Orlando SeaWolves will kick off their second Major Arena Soccer League season with a two-game homestand, both against their in-state rivals, the Florida Tropics. The first of these games will come on Friday evening at 7:35 p.m. EST. The match will be televised online at masl.tv.

“Every team you play on, your main goal is to win a championship, so that's the main goal every single year,” Assistant Coach Piotr Sliwa said at media day on Monday. “Obviously making the playoffs and just improving every game. The first couple of games of the season, you're going to struggle and make mistakes and then as long as you get better every game, I think we have a really good chance of making the playoffs.”

The SeaWolves and Tropics exchanged five players this offseason, with Gordy Gurson, Rainer Hauss and Stefan Mijatovic heading to Lakeland, while Enzo Marangoni and Maycon Franca journeyed up to Orlando.

The Tropics enter the 2019-20 season after a 6-18 season, along with a 1-11 record away from home. Lakeland’s team has completely re-tooled from last season, bringing in star signings like goalscorers Joey Tavernese, Zack Reget and Gurson, while adding defenders Drew Ruggles and Stephen DeRoux from Milwaukee and Utica respectively.

This will be the first of six meetings between the two teams this season. The SeaWolves hold the all-time record with four wins and just two losses.

Following this weekend’s games, the SeaWolves will have a week off before they host the Tropics again on Thursday, December 5 at 7:35 p.m. ET for Thirsty Thursday and Country Night.
