SeaWolves Can't Break Down Milwaukee Defense in Loss

ORLANDO, FL – Starting the first of a back-to-back weekend, the Orlando SeaWolves faced a stymieing Milwaukee Wave defense that held the Orlando offense to just two goals in a 6-2 defeat to the away side.

“We certainly put ourselves in bad situations and anytime you do that against a team like Milwaukee and you go down and try and chase the game, it’s not the place you want to be in any game, but especially against a team like Milwaukee,” Head Coach Tom Traxler said after the game.

The Wave opened up the game with a point to prove, having lost their previous time in Orlando. Ian Bennett and Drew Ruggles put two on the board before the first quarter was done, putting the SeaWolves in an early hole.

Gordy Gurson blasted Orlando back into the game off a set piece strike early in the second, but Milwaukee came back and scored two goals in a span of just a minute at the tail end of the quarter to put the Wave up 4-1 at the half.

Ian Bennet scored his second in the third and Marcelo Leite added another in the fourth to put Milwaukee up 6-1. Gurson pulled one back from a penalty kick with just two minutes left, but the damage had been done and Orlando fell to the visiting Wave 6-2.

The SeaWolves will play again tomorrow in the Silver Spurs Arena against the Florida Tropics. The game is set for a 7:05 kickoff.
