LAKELAND, FL –The Orlando SeaWolves traveled to Lakeland for their first away game and after being shut out in the first half, the visiting team made a push for a comeback that fell just short, losing 9-6 against the Florida Tropics.

The first half was an unlucky one for Orlando. Despite outshooting the Tropics 19-15, the SeaWolves went to the locker room with no goals to show for their efforts as well as a 5-0 deficit.

23 seconds into the second half, Orlando was finally able to get on the board, thanks to Gordy Gurson’s fourth goal of the season.

After conceding, Florida then went on to score three unanswered to make it 8-1 towards the end of the third quarter.

As the quarter was winding down, Osvaldo Rojas was able to score past Tropics keeper Hugo Silva to make it 8-2, then Joshio Sandoval struck a beautiful free kick just before the end of the quarter to make it 8-3.

The comeback continued on in the fourth, as Rojas netted his brace to make it 8-4 midway through the quarter, then Tyler Turner scored his first goal as a SeaWolf to make it 8-5.

Orlando continued to try and climb all the way back into the game, but the deficit was just too much and despite Osvaldo Rojas finishing off his hat trick with just 28 seconds left, Florida scored as the buzzer sounded and the SeaWolves fell by three goals at the end of it.

The SeaWolves will play their next game once again in Lakeland, after a one week break in between games against the Tropics. Kickoff for that game will once again be at 7:05 p.m EST.
